Down 2-0 in their quarter finals series against Real Madrid, Avi Even is still trusting his team to pull out a miracle
Maccabi would have certainly prefered a different situation for their playoffs game in 7 years. However, Maccabi’s head coach Avi Even remains optimistic.
“We do not want to erase what has happened, because otherwise we will not learn from it. We are going to a finals for the next match. We didn’t play well in the second match, but we don’t have time, so we have to move forward,”
When asked about his team’s ability to overcome a two-game deficit, Even had a striking example.
“Many years ago, my grandparents came to Israel by boat from Poland and Russia, and my two grandparents came from Iraq. The last thing they believed was that it would ever happen. We are in a situation where faith is the strongest thing. I didn’t stop believing that we would win for a second,”
