The 36 years old Croatian won’t be able to help his team to defend their title due to a knee injury. He may have played his last game for Anadolu Efes last April.

Krunoslav Simon injured his knee during the last practice before heading to Belgrade. He won’t be able to get back on track before the end of the season.

“I’m out for the season. This is the late part of the season, so it’s impossible to come back in less than one month”, said Simon to BasketNews.

The Croatian guard averaged 6,9 points, 2,8 rebounds and 2,6 assists in Euroleague this season. Simon’s contract expires this year, and there is a possibility that he’s returning to his hometown country.

“I’m homesick, and my kids will start school. Even after these injuries, I think I have a few more years, and I will continue to play. It’s too early to say where, but I think I will play a few more years”

Simon was a key factor in last year’s title with Efes. Ergin Ataman will have plenty of work to do to overcome the loss of a key player in the rotation. However, Rodrigue Beaubois participated in the training with the team before the semifinal.
