The Cape Verdean center was a bit disappointed as he didn’t win the Defensive Player of The Year in Euroleague. The trophy went to Kyle Hines (Olimpia Milano).
Real Madrid center has been named in the All-Euroleague First Team for the second year in a row. This might not be enough to overcome his disappointment of not making the DPOY three-peat.
“For me, it is always a goal to win the Defensive Player of the Year because I love to win the trophy. I think I should have won this year but I respect Kyle Hines. Hines has being well-known his whole career. It is what it is, maybe I can fight for it next year.”

Kyle Hines wins this award for the third time in his career, after 2016 and 2018. Edy Tavares finished just behind him in the voting. The center will have the opportunity to prove the voters wrong this Saturday (21/5) against Anadolu Efes in final.
