ITW Massimo Cancellieri, Limoges coach : “I try to be everything like insane”

He achieves with his players in France a season well beyond expectations at Limoges CSP. Arrived last summer in one of the temples of French basketball, the Italian Massimo Cancellieri was adopted by a city and a team. His inspirations, his past experiences, his personality, his defensive identity… The 49-year-old coach answered our questions. Interview.

What made you decide to go abroad, outside of Italy, at almost 50 years old, for the first time in your career ?
“It was just an opportunity because I wanted to go away earlier than my fifties. But it wasn’t possible. It has been the only good opportunity to go abroad so far. And I took it immediately. I’m 50, I still feel pretty in shape, it was the good time… And I touch wood (laughs).”

Knowing that the CSP is the club that has used coaches the most in 30 years in France didn’t scare you?
“It basically doesn’t scare me. I understand pressure and I really don’t care about it because it’s part of our job…
