After winning the first two games on the road against Bonn, Bayern didn’t manage to close out the series at home. They will have to play a decisive game 5 to reach the final against Alba Berlin.
The least we can say is that this series is closer than ever. The maximum margin during those last three games ? 3 points. Bayern won game 2 by one point (82-81). Then they lost game 3 by two points and game 3 by only three points. This is alarming because they attempted 15 more free-throws than their opponent but they lost the ball 14 times, while Bonn turned it over only 8 times in that game.
There is another factor which is not reassuring for Bayern. Parker Jackson-Cartwight is not playing his best this series, and yet, there is 2-2. He is shooting 14/41 (34%) on the two-points attempts and 3/20 (15%) from downtown. If he decides to wake up in Game 5, he can really become a human torch as he already scored 40 points this season.
The fact that this series lasts 5 games gives the benefit to Alba Berlin who swept Ludwigsburg, they played their last game on 3 June. The first seed will have way more rest than their opponent coming into these finals.
