After making a controversial transfer to Zenit St. Petersburg, Thomas Heurtel fired back on his Instagram account to his detractors.

On Monday, October 10, to start his week well, Thomas Heurtel let loose on social media. Gone to play in Zenit St. Petersburg for the 2022-23 season, the 33-year-old point guard made it known that he did not care about the criticism suffered. A message as clear as aggressive :

“Just to let everyone know who sends me messages or writes comments criticizing my decision to come to Russia: I don’t give a s***. So don’t be sorry and stop wasting your time. And please, get on with your life. Thank you in advance”.

Before the beginning of the EuroBasket 2022 (August 1), the French Basketball Federation (FFBB) officially announced that players who represent Russian or Belarussian teams won’t be available to represent the country in international tournaments.

However, two days after the end of EuroBasket, Zenit made it official that the Tricolor would join. Following this announcement, the FFBB confirmed that Heurtel will not receive an invitation to the national team if he stays in Russia.

At EuroBasket 2022, the playmaker averaged 10.4 points and 7.1 assists and was one of the main contributors to France’s second place finish in the tournament. In Russia, he continues his work in distribution. In his last game, this October 8, Heurtel had 11 assists in the 60-65 VTB League win over Parma.
