Former president of the Women’s League from 2001 to 2009, the current president of the French basketball federation Jean-Pierre Siutat shared on Europe 1 his feelings on the progress of women’s basketball in France.
Jean-Pierre Siutat, president of the French Basketball Federation (FFBB), has welcomed the progress of the Women’s League, France’s top division, which is now one of the most scrutinized leagues in the world.
There is a very big effort made since 15 years. There is a real show in the gyms of the French teams. Things are happening in this league, it is now one of the best in the world”, assured the former president of the Women’s League
This season, France has two representatives in Euroleague (Bourges and Basket Landes) and six in Eurocup (ASVEL, Villeneuve d’Ascq, Lattes-Montpellier, Charleville-Mézières, La Roche and Angers), that is to say 8 clubs in European cup on the 12 clubs present in LFB. A high level which explains, among other things, the excellent results of the French basketball team for the last ten years (two Olympic medals, five times vice-champions of Europe).
