Last night, Olimpia conceded its ninth consecutive defeat in Euroleague, on its floor against Maccabi Te-Aviv. A situation that finally does not jeopardize the future of Ettore Messina on the bench, assures Leo Dell’Orco the manager of Milan.

Olimpia Milan continues its descent into hell after the defeat conceded against Maccabi Tel Aviv (71-79), despite the 14 points of Timothy Luwawu-Cabarrot. The game had started well with a lead of 8 points at halftime. The Maccabi had come back to equality (59-59, 30th) before the Milanese, lacking confidence, cracked in the final period.

This new negative result brings the record to 10 defeats in 13 Euroleague games before the trip to Belgrade against a Red Star with six wins in a row. After the game on Tuesday, coach Ettore Messina did not change his speech to the journalists present at the press conference: “We played a good game in the first half and then, as always, we threw everything. The three things that always kill us are turnovers, missed free throws and mistakes that we could have avoided defensively. But we continue to work because we need to get better, not only to play better at this level, but to play better in the national league.”

For the moment, the legendary coach is losing his superbness but continues to be supported by the management team of Olimpia Milan. After a discussion with his presidency, he confirmed to the media his presence until the end of the season.

“Olimpia Milan is moving forward with Ettore Messina. Without a doubt. We also have an agreement for next year. He has maximum support from the owners.”
